In a Shield Maidens circle girls learn stories; they learn about the chakra system; they talk about age-appropriate topics regarding our bodies, menstruation and budding sexuality; enjoy creative dance; and learn the joys of being in a circle of females who are engaged and who build one another up.
At each Shield Maidens gathering girls participate in both physical and thinking activities and learn real life skills. We have a strong focus on creativity, kindness and fun. Some things we might do in a circle are: share in a talking circle; learn about the menstrual cycle and the variety of products on the market for use during this time; learn a few basic herbal recipes and make them; make bath salts or other body care products; draw a mandala; draw! sing!
In the Summer of 2016, I will be available for facilitator trainings.
If you are interested in starting a circle or in becoming a facilitator of a Shield Maidens circle, please contact me via comment or my FB page, you should find a link in the sidebar.
I have been working with and teaching groups of girls for over a decade and began my first girl’s circle in 2013. I was in Katharine Kruegar’s inaugural Mentorship training group with Journey of Young Women. For the rest of my bio, click here.
